About

Built by people who deploy things.

CliniCall is made by D Analytics, an applied AI company whose whole reason for existing is the gap between what AI can demonstrably do and what actually gets into operational use.

Why we built it

The information was always there. It just never reached anyone in time.

A patient usually knows days in advance that they cannot make an appointment. Someone on the waiting list would take that slot tomorrow. Both facts exist. Neither reaches the appointment book while it can still be acted on.

That is not a technology gap so much as a communication one. Letters go one way. Reminders go one way. Reception teams are already at capacity, so the conversation that would resolve it never happens. The slot goes empty, the waiting list gets longer, and a service that has done nothing wrong is blamed for both.

CliniCall exists to have those conversations at a scale no reception team could, and to act on what they reveal immediately. Confirm, move, release, refill — while there is still time for it to matter.

We are deliberately not building a clinical product. There are plenty of people working on AI that reasons about medicine. Far fewer are working on the unglamorous operational layer where a great deal of NHS capacity is quietly lost — which is exactly why we chose it.

The people

You will be dealing with us directly.

CliniCall is a small team, on purpose. During a pilot you talk to the people who build the thing, not to an account manager who relays it.

Mark Dowds

Founder & Chief Executive

Previously Group Chief Strategy Officer at Ooredoo Group, where he ran strategy and transformation across a multi-market telecoms operator. He has spent his career on the part everyone finds hardest: getting decisions and systems to survive contact with a real organisation.

His research interest is cascading distortion — how information degrades as it moves through an organisation. That is the same failure CliniCall addresses in the appointment book: the facts exist, but they never reach the person who could act on them.

Brian Ward

Co-founder & Head of Engineering

Brian leads the engineering of the platform: the conversation engine, the scheduling and backfill logic, and the integration layer that lets CliniCall read and write to the systems a service already runs.

The design principles he works to are the ones you will find throughout this site — no silent writes, idempotent jobs, complete audit trails, and a system that fails towards a human rather than towards a confident wrong answer.

The company

CliniCall is a D Analytics product.

D Analytics is an Edinburgh applied-AI company. The other work spans conversational agents, healthcare AI and enterprise AI strategy, and all of it is held to the same standard: it has to run in a real operation, not in a demonstration.

Registered in England No. 15116781. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

How we work with a service

Short scoping call. Honest answer about fit, including when the answer is no. A time-boxed pilot with metrics agreed before we start. A written report from your data, including what did not work.

No procurement theatre, no six-month discovery phase, and no claims we cannot show you the working for.

Come and ask us the difficult questions.

The ones about safety, data, evidence and what happens when the AI gets it wrong. Those are the conversations we would rather have first.
